hibernation
Hibernation is set in a very near future, in which the Australian Minister for Space Exploration pitches an innovative solution to the impending climate catastrophe, human hibernation. The world agrees and all of humanity is sent into hibernation for one year. In that year birds multiply, football fields become forests and oceans teem again. At the same time, domestic dogs become feral, subways collapse, and there are some few people who don’t go to sleep. Hibernation explores what might happen, given that - humans being humans – the benefits of saving the world are mainly reaped by the rich and the losses are mainly suffered by the poor. Stories of love, loss and revolution are wound together in a poetic evocation of one possible future.
